Faith Value
You may have heard of the phrase, 'face value'; to take something at face value. It connotes the value printed or depicted on a coin, a banknote, postage stamp, ticket, etc. It is a term that suggests the apparent worth or implication of something.
A hundred dollar bill should be worth $100 if taken at 'face value'. What you see is what you get. Sometimes however, things do not turn out as they appear, as there could be more to what is being presented. When this happens, we may choose to take things at "face value" even when we believe there is more.
For example, you could hear someone say about another person,"her lie was unconvincing, but I took it at face value". With 'face value', you choose to stay with what you see.
The 'face-value' surmise was what came to mind as I pondered about another concept that I came across in a bible study material recently; 'Faith Value'.
Does your prayer have faith value? 'Faith Value' is the concept that describes the idea that your requests and prayers must be founded on God's promises as stated clearly in the bible.
Are you standing on a promise that is spelt out in the bible or are you assuming or wishing that it is in there? If you're not sure it is in there, you are not sure you would get answers when you pray. So people would say things like "Lord, if it is your will….". No, don't be like that. That's a lazy approach.
Study the scriptures, find out what it promises you about the situation you're dealing with and discuss with your Heavenly Father. Insist on the 'faith value'. Declare and make pronouncements based on the 'Faith Value' of the Word of God.
Is your petition provided for in the word? That is, does it have Faith Value? You should speak to God at Faith Value, if not your prayers would not be pleasing to God. It is impossible to please God without faith. Insist on the Faith Value.
Learn to take what the Word of God says as what it says. Take it as 'face value'. This is what gives your prayers Faith Value. Your prayer is heavy and weighty as it is hinged on the infallible Word of God. The 'face value' of the Word, gives your prayer 'Faith Value'. Hallelujah!!
